NeonStream ("the Extension," "we," "us") is a minimalist background music player that streams audio from the third-party Jamendo API. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data the Extension handles, how it is used, and what is — and is not — collected.Summary (plain English): NeonStream does not collect, store on our servers, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. The only data the Extension saves is stored locally on your own device and is used solely to make the app work (remembering your settings, your favorites, and which songs you've already heard). We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking.1. Information We Do NOT CollectWe do not collect, request, or have access to any of the following:Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number, account credentials).
Browsing history, web activity, or the contents of any web pages you visit.
Location data, device identifiers, or financial information.
Cookies or cross-site tracking data.
NeonStream has no user accounts and requires no sign-up or login.2. Information Stored Locally on Your DeviceTo function, the Extension saves a small amount of data only on your own computer, using the browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. It consists of:Your preferences — the selected music category/station, your chosen theme color, and similar settings.
Your Favorites — track information (such as title, artist, and the public Jamendo link) for songs you choose to save, so you can revisit them.
Recently played track IDs — a limited local history of song identifiers used to power the "Never Repeat" discovery feature, preventing the same songs from playing again too soon.
You can remove this data at any time by clearing the Extension's data through your browser settings or by uninstalling the Extension.3. Third-Party Service (Jamendo)NeonStream streams music from the Jamendo API, an independent third-party music service. When you play music, the Extension sends requests to Jamendo's servers to retrieve track information and audio streams. As with any internet request, these requests necessarily include standard technical information such as your IP address, which is handled by Jamendo, not by us. We do not control and are not responsible for Jamendo's data practices. Your use of streamed content is subject to Jamendo's own privacy policy and terms, available at https://www.jamendo.com.4. Permissions and Why We Request ThemThe Extension requests the minimum permissions required to operate:Storage — to save your preferences, favorites, and local play history on your device.
Offscreen — to play continuous background audio without keeping a browser tab open.
Alarms — to power the Sleep Timer, which pauses playback after a period you choose.
Access to api.jamendo.com — to fetch music metadata and audio streams from Jamendo.
We do not request access to your browsing data, tabs, or any websites other than the Jamendo API.5. Data Sharing and SellingWe do not sell, rent, trade, or share any user data with anyone, for any purpose. We do not use any data for advertising, credit, lending, or creditworthiness evaluation.6. Children's PrivacyNeonStream does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. The Extension is a general-audience music player.7.
